Our Vision

Limitless Play Together

Tree House of Lititz Foundation partnered with Play by Design to build a beautiful, custom-made playground for every single child in Lititz and the surrounding communities. The Tree House is a place where children of all abilities feel included, valued, heard, and are able to play safely. A short walk from Lititz Springs Park and across the street from Warwick High School, the Tree House is open to all from dawn until dusk every day of the year. This is your playground. This is our playground. Thanks for joining together to make this dream a reality.

Dreams Become Reality

The Build!

The Tree House is the culmination of the hopes and dreams of all the children in our own community. This makes the playground wholly unique and personalized to the needs and wants of the kids and their families in Lititz and Lancaster. The expert designers, Play by Design, compiled the feedback from the community and had the grand unveiling of the drawing on January 30th, 2018 at the Design Day Celebration Party.

After raising the necessary funds through community donations, over 550 community volunteers joined together on September 15-18 and September 22-27, 2020 to build the Tree House Playground, making the dream a reality.

FAQ's

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

The Playground

  • Can we reserve the playground or pavilion for an event?

The Tree House Playground cannot be rented out, as it is a public community playground.  However, the nearby pavilion and kitchenette are available to rent through the Lititz Church of the Brethren.  Please email admin@lititzcob.org regarding fees and availability, or to request a reservation date.

  • What are the playground hours?

It is open dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. The playground will be considered “closed” for safety reasons if Warwick School District closes due to weather.

  • Who can use the playground?

Every single child. No exceptions. This is a playground for everyone.  If you have a large group or are with an organization, please connect with us regarding certificates of insurance, etc.  The Tree House Playground is for shared use and cannot be reserved or closed for private use.

  • Are restrooms available?

Yes! Two fully accessible restrooms will be open and available from May 1-Nov 1.  During colder months, portable toilet units will be on site.

  • Where can we park?

There is a parking lot available adjacent to the playground at the Lititz Church of the Brethren. Handicap parking is available at the playground entrance. If large events are happening (at the church or at the playground), additional parking is available at the front of the church, on Second Ave and Orange St, and at Warwick High School (during non-school hours).

  • What makes the playground accessible?

Liberty swing (special wheelchair accessible swing), poured rubber surfaces, ramps, stainless steel slides (which are safe for children with hearing aids), and many more features you will have to visit to see.

  • Are pets allowed on the playground?

Pets are not permitted on the Tree House Playground.  The only exception is for service dogs.

The Build

  • How is the Tree House different from other playgrounds?

It is fully accessible for all people of all abilities. It is community funded, built, and designed.

  • Who designed the Tree House?

    Play by Design. http://pbdplaygrounds.com/

  • When was the Tree House built?

The playground was built in September 2020.

  • Who built it?

Community volunteers! The Play by Design model uses hundreds of helping hands to get the job done under the supervision of the PbD Design Team.

  • How long did it take to build?

It was built in 10 days by more than 550 community volunteers!

  • How much did it cost?

The project cost around $1,000,000.00 to build.  However, additional funds will be required to maintain the playground, so we will continue to raise funds even though the playground is built and open.

  • Why did it cost that much?

Safety is key for the Tree House. In order to keep our community playground safe and accessible for all children, the customized nature of this playground requires extra resources.
